More Idaho Stuffs...

Okay, where to start...
Carl The Gopher Hunter, has stopped another one in it's tracks. I'm not sure if the backyard has more gopher holes or Carl holes. Anyhow, two are down and there have only been a couple of new holes since the last annihilated one. Carl has mostly been flooding out the tunnels when he irrigates, so hopefully that's what's slowing them down. What's funny, is that you can tell where the tunnels run by where the grass is green in the back half.

We had our first visitors to The Thig Pen this last week. The Blatt family trudged up from California to spend 4th of July week in the State of Potatoes. We had a great time just hanging around checking out some sights and enjoying each other's company. Michael did some "relaxing" around our yard by cutting back some rose bushes and clearing out some of the overgrowth in the creek. While out in the creek with Josiah and Micaela, Michael figured things just weren't exciting enough around here and found a badger. Yes, I said badger. In the creek, IN OUR BACKYARD!! Okay, okay, it was dead and lodged under the water between a couple tree trunks, but it was still IN OUR BACKYARD!! {Of course I've included a couple of pictures. They're not for the weary hearted though. My mom didn't enjoy viewing them. (boy, did she let me know...)} Michael fished it out with a shovel and burried it in one of the Carl holes. That should deter a gopher. For the 4th we went floating down the Boise River. It was a warm day and the cool water in the shade was the perfect contrast. We came home threw dinner together and enjoyed the fireworks (not all safe or sane)(they're sold here!) in the yard before The Blatts had to pack up and leave the next morning. (Thank you guys for coming all this way out. The girls REALLY enjoyed the company too.)
